About Me

Hola! Bienviendo! Annyong haseyo! AlyssaConnerKonnichi wa!

My name is Alyssa Conner and I am a senior at Kent State University, majoring in public relations.  I originally came to KSU as a broadcast journalism major, but had a change of heart after my first semester.  I am member of KSU’s PRSSA chapter and have worked for the Daily Kent Stater and Black Squirrel Radio.  This is my first blogging experience and am excited to share what I am most passionate about, diversity.

I was first introduced to diversity when I was only a baby.  I like to describe my family as a “melting pot”- not too hot or too cold!  I was adopted from South Korea when I was six-months-old and have a younger brother from Vietnam.  So growing up for me was diverse enough in my own household.

I feel diversity is a topic people have grown more accustomed to talk about because of the different races and cultures seen in today’s society.  It is important that journalists understand the dynamics of diversity in order to convey their key messages, reach their target audience and network successfully.

With that being said, my ultimate dream would be to take an entire year and just travel the world.  Visit as many countries as I can and learn as much as possible from the  different cultures.

I hope you enjoy my blog and feel free to contact me at aconner2@kent.edu

Adios! Aloha! Salut! Chow!

Alyssa-

I was just catching up on my PR reading and wanted to let you know I enjoyed reading all of your blog posts. You chose a great topic, I especially liked the post about diversity in Hollywood, obviously. Hope all is well this semester, I feel like I never get to see you anymore! Good luck with the rest of your class and I’ll see you at the end of the year to celebrate the end of Campaigns!!

l am very grateful for such positive ideas fo yours on your blog. This really shows that someone is doing something to make this “crooked world” a better place to live without looking at skin colour. Why cant be like crayons, (a theory by someone), who stay together in the same pack with their different colours, without causing each other despair. keep it up, l love your blog. l am a media first year student (PR specialist), l get so inspired if l see people who believe in change.

Thank you for the positive comments. I haven’t posted in a while and really need to. I feel strongly about diversity and am proud that I have followers like you that can share similar views/interests!
